- Any reference in these Terms or on our website to Your Subscription means Your Card and the Mobile App
- Any reference in these Terms or on our website to Your “Bank Account” means Your third-party issued bank account which is linked to Your Card
- You must have an active Direct Debit when You authorise the payment until the payment has been debited from Your linked Bank Account
- For other defined terms please see the glossary at the end of these Terms.

Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee acceptance of an application. We reserve the right to decline any application or refuse to provide our services where this is necessary for legal, regulatory, financial crime, fraud prevention, risk management, operational or commercial reasons. We may not always be able to disclose the specific reason for a decision where doing so would be unlawful or would compromise our fraud prevention, financial crime or security controls.
How to contact us
- You can reach Currensea by email at help.milesandmore@currensea.com, via the contact form in the Mobile App, or call 020 3909 7875 (or +44 20 3909 7875 from abroad), and leave a message.
How Currensea works
- When You sign up to Currensea, You link Your UK Bank Account through Your bank's secure online banking platform or mobile application. We perform a check on Your linked Bank Account to ensure it meets our eligibility criteria. Once linked, You provide Us with the authority to debit Your linked Bank Account for transactions made using Your Card. By linking a Bank Account, You confirm that You have all necessary permissions and authority to do so. You acknowledge and agree that You remain personally and solely liable for all amounts due to Currensea in connection with Your use of the Card. This includes, for the avoidance of doubt, where You or any other named holder of a linked Bank Account disputes Currensea’s rights in respect of an Authorised transaction. Authorised spend using Your Card, will be taken as consent to debit Your linked Bank Account for the GBP/£ equivalent amount, based on the applicable exchange rate.
- For each transaction made, We will send an email to the email address You have provided, identifying the Merchant and the amount of the transaction. Where used for Foreign Spend, the email will also show the exchange rate used and the GBP/£ amount that will be debited from Your Bank Account.
- You have also authorised Us to access information from Your Bank Account, based on the usage conditions in our Privacy Policy. This authorisation and Your Bank Account link is reconfirmed by You each time You access the Mobile App or use Your Card. You can update Your linked Bank Accounts via the Mobile App at any time.
Cost of using Currensea
- Currensea operates a platform powering different Currensea Services. Costs for using the Card services are:
- The Card is a subscription debit card that enables users to earn Miles & More Miles as they spend in the UK and internationally. For details on how Miles & More Miles are earned, please see the Card Benefits section in this document.
- Currensea charges a Subscription fee for its services. Please see the Pricing Plan section below.
- The Card is also designed to save You money on international purchases. Our Realtime Exchange Rates can be found here.
- Please note that the exchange rate may change throughout the day, but We will let You know what rate has been applied to Your transaction in Your confirmation email. You can also check the relevant exchange rate via our website or the Mobile App.
- Whenever You make a payment in a foreign currency using Your Card You will be charged the Realtime Exchange Rate. We may also add an exchange fee, as further set out in these Terms. An additional rate applies to ATM withdrawals over a certain amount per month. Please see the Pricing Plan table for more information. Please note, some ATM providers may charge a separate transaction fee. For the avoidance of doubt, We do not permit ATM withdrawals in GBP/£.
Using Currensea
- When using Your Card to make a transaction or paying Your Annual Fee, You must have enough funds available in Your linked Bank Account. We will check the balance of Your Bank Account to ensure there are sufficient funds before approving the transaction or processing the Annual Fee payment. Once a transaction has been authorised or an Annual Fee payment is due, We are immediately entitled to collect the funds which will be collected from Your Bank Account via Direct Debit or Faster Payment. If We are unable to collect the funds from Your Bank Account, We may charge You for late payment. Your Card is not a credit card and is not intended for borrowing.
- You will need the Mobile App accompanying the Card to authenticate online payments.
- If the Direct Debit or Faster Payment is unsuccessful, We will contact You and continue attempting to collect the outstanding amount, or request that this is sent to Us via Faster Payment. If We have still not received the full outstanding balance after 3 working days, We will apply a one-off late payment fee of £35. If the outstanding balance (inclusive of any later payment fees) remains unpaid, an additional fee of 40% of the total outstanding balance will subsequently be applied to cover Our costs. Your Card will be blocked until all outstanding funds are repaid in full. Currensea reserves the right to refer any outstanding payments, including any applicable fees, to a third party for recovery. Any additional costs or fees incurred by such third parties may be added to the outstanding balance. Currensea may report missed payments and outstanding balance to credit reference agencies, which may negatively impact Your personal credit score. Currensea may issue a formal demand for payment and take further recovery action. Currensea also reserves the right to terminate our service to You and cancel Your Card.
- You can keep track of how much You are spending via the transaction list in Your Mobile App.
- Before Your Annual Fee payment is taken by Direct Debit, We will give You at least 14 calendar days’ advance notice of the amount, date and purpose of the payment, unless a shorter notice period has been expressly agreed with You. This notice will normally be provided by email. If we need to change the amount, date or frequency of a renewal payment, We will notify You in advance using the same notice period.
- All Direct Debits are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee. You can read the full Direct Debit Guarantee wording here: https://www.directdebit.co.uk/direct-debit-guarantee/
- Spend on Your Card is subject to our Fair Use Policy.
- The Card can be used to make transactions in multiple currencies worldwide and is generally accepted wherever Mastercard is accepted. However, we may restrict the use of Your Card in certain countries or locations, or decline transactions, where required for legal, regulatory, or risk management reasons. Availability may change from time to time without notice.
- We may block a transaction. Reasons we may do this include:
- We suspect any criminal or fraudulent activity on Your Card (to protect You)
- We’re not legally allowed to process the transaction
- The transaction takes You over Your Currensea spend limits
- You don’t have enough funds in Your linked Bank Account
- We have had to apply a fee due to uncollected funds
- Your spend is not in-line with our Fair Use Policy
- The transaction is for a non-permitted purchase. Details of non-permitted purchases can be found in our Fair Use Policy
- If We do block a transaction, we'll let You know as soon as possible via email. Therefore, please ensure Your contact details are correct.
- We are not responsible for any losses You incur if we do not authorise or block a transaction. Also, We are not responsible if any merchant refuses to accept the Card.
Limits
- Spend limits will be based on Your balance and transaction history, as well as other information We hold on You.
- Your spend limits can be viewed in Your Mobile App. These limits may change over time, in Our sole discretion, and We will let You know if they do. Please note, Your Card cannot be used for ATM withdrawals in the UK.
- Please contact Us at help.milesandmore@currensea.com if You want to discuss Your limits.
Keeping Your Card safe
- You must always keep Your Card and its details safe and never let anyone else use them. You should memorise Your PIN and other security information and keep them secret at all times.
- You must only ever reveal Your Card number to make a transaction, report the loss or theft of the Card, or if We ask You to. We will never contact You to ask You for Your passwords, CVC, PIN, OTP token or full security details. When We contact You, we’ll always check We are corresponding with the right person by asking You several security questions associated with Your Subscription.
- If Your Card is lost or stolen, or You see unrecognised transactions, You must freeze it immediately via Your Mobile App and contact Us at help.milesandmore@currensea.com as soon as possible. If You need a new Card, We may charge You GBP £5 for a replacement.
- We will usually, but at our discretion, refund You for any unrecognised transactions; reasons for which You may not get a refund include:
- You didn't keep Your Card, CVC, OTP, and/or PIN safe (as We have told You above)
- You broke the terms of these Terms or website Terms of Use
- The unrecognised transactions are over 13 months old
- You acted fraudulently or with intent or gross negligence
- The losses are not the direct result of our actions
For the avoidance of doubt, sharing security information is granting access to Your account and potentially also the authority to act as the account holder. We reserve the right to treat any failure by You to keep Your PIN, OTP or other security details safe to be gross negligence, including but not limited to scenarios where You chose to share Your credentials with a third party or else left these credentials in a place where a third party could identify and use these, i.e. affixed Your PIN to Your Card.
Authorised transactions
- All spend using Your Card is deemed as authorised, thereby giving Us the authority to take the funds from Your linked Bank Account via Direct Debit or Faster Payment. This means You must always have an active Direct Debit.
- You will receive an email notification each time a transaction takes place using Card or a daily summary of transactions. If You did not authorise the transaction, You must freeze Your Card via Your Mobile App immediately and contact Us at help.milesandmore@currensea.com as soon as possible. If You have been a victim of fraud, We will usually, but at Our discretion, refund any money You have lost; reasons for which You may not get a refund include that You acted fraudulently or with gross negligence (as listed above).
Purchase protection
- For Your protection, Currensea supports Mastercard™ chargebacks. This may help You reclaim funds if:
- Your goods do not arrive
- Your goods arrive damaged
- Your goods are different from how they were described
- There's a technical issue, i.e. an expired authorisation
- There's a clerical error, i.e. being charged either multiple times or for the wrong amount
- In the event of certain types of merchant fraud
- The Merchant has ceased trading
- There's no upper limit on how much You can dispute via the chargeback process, although there may be a minimum spend (We'll confirm when You reach out, based on current guidelines).
- Please note, to use chargeback, it usually must be within 120 days of Your payment. However, in the case of certain future-dated items, such as airline tickets or sporting fixtures, the 120-day time limit begins once You were due to receive the goods or service.
- Chargeback requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, at Our sole discretion, and will require supporting evidence to be submitted by the Cardholder. If You need to raise a chargeback, please contact Us at help.milesandmore@currensea.com.
Provisional Refunds and Reversals
- Where we, at our sole discretion and in good faith, provide you with a refund in relation to a disputed or potentially unauthorised transaction before our investigation is complete, that refund is provided on a provisional basis.
- If, following further investigation, card scheme dispute processes, or receipt of additional merchant evidence, we determine (acting reasonably) that the transaction was authorised by you, that you acted fraudulently or with gross negligence, or that the transaction is otherwise not refundable under these Terms or applicable law, then to the extent permitted by applicable law we reserve the right to reverse the provisional refund and recover the relevant amount from you.
- We may recover such amounts, where legally and operationally possible, by debiting your linked Bank Account, collecting from any other payment method you have registered with us, setting off against any amounts we owe you, or otherwise requesting repayment from you. If repayment is not made when due, we may take appropriate steps to recover the outstanding amount.
- We will notify you in writing before any such reversal or recovery, providing a summary of the evidence or basis for our decision.
Marketing preferences
- By providing Your contact details and opting in to receive marketing communications, You consent to receive marketing materials from Currensea and the Miles & More Programme, and from carefully selected partners. You can opt out at any time. For more details, please see our Privacy Policy.
Our Cards
- Currensea offers plans for personal customers. Details of our plans can be found here.
- When You subscribe to one of our plans, You are committing to a 12-month annual Subscription. Your Subscription becomes active once You activate Your Card or otherwise receive any benefits associated with Your Subscription, including (where applicable) Miles, welcome bonus offers or limited time offers (LTOs). From the point Your Subscription becomes active, Your annual Subscription is being provided and the 14-day cooling-off period will no longer apply. Payment is collected via Direct Debit or Faster Payment. If You choose to end the Agreement before the 12-month Subscription term has elapsed, You will remain liable for any outstanding payments. Once Your Subscription is active, You will not be entitled to a full or partial refund of the Annual Fee. If You cancel before Your Subscription becomes active and before receiving any associated benefits, We may refund the Annual Fee, less GBP 5 to cover Card issuance and onboarding costs.
- Your Subscription will automatically renew at the end of the term. To prevent this, please get in touch with Us at least 30 days before Your Subscription is due to end.
How to make a complaint
- If You have a complaint, please contact Us at help.milesandmore@currensea.com and we'll do our best to fix the problem.

- If You don't agree to these changes, let Us know by contacting Us at help.milesandmore@currensea.com. Once We have checked there are no uncollected payments, we'll cancel Your Card.
Ending Your Subscription
- To cancel Your Subscription, go to settings/account in Your Mobile App.
- Cancelling Your Direct Debit is not the same as ending Your Agreement with us. We’ll need to ensure there are no uncollected payments before We can end the Agreement.
- Once we have ended the Agreement, Your Card won't work and You won't be able to access the Mobile App.
- Currensea can end the Agreement and stop providing any services by giving You at least two months' notice. The amount of any welcome bonus, Anniversary Bonus or other promotional bonus will be specified in the applicable offer documentation and may vary from time to time. All bonuses will be subject to specific bonus terms and conditions and/or other relevant (spend related) criteria.
- We may offer rewards, introductory or limited time offers (LTOs) and benefits for new or existing Cardholders or things like referring a friend or using Your Card with specific Merchants. We reserve the right to withdraw or change these offers at any time without notice. Any introductory or limited time offer, rewards, or benefits will be available one time per Cardholder and are limited to one offer per customer unless otherwise explicitly stated.
- These offers are non-transferable and may not be combined with any other discounts, promotions, or offers unless expressly permitted.
- We expect You to enter accurate information when required by our partners in order to collect associated benefits or rewards. Failure to do so may result in the reward being declined or removed.
- If an offer includes specific terms and conditions, those specific terms will prevail over these general Terms in the event of any conflict.
Net Valid Spend
Unless otherwise stated, any spend criteria mentioned in these Terms or other offer specific terms and conditions relate to net Valid Spend. In other words, this would exclude any spend which is not eligible for Miles & More Miles earn and/or other limited spend under the Fair Use Policy and it also does not include any refunds and/or Chargebacks.

While Currensea shall make every endeavour to notify Cardholders of such changes, neither Currensea nor Miles & More (including its subsidiaries and affiliates) will be held liable in any manner for failure to do so.
- Currensea and Miles & More (including its subsidiaries and affiliates) will not be liable for a failure to perform any obligations under these Terms if due directly or indirectly to the failure of any machinery or communication system, industrial dispute, war or act of God or anything outside their control. Nor shall Currensea or Miles & More (including its subsidiaries and affiliates) be responsible for any delay by Merchants in transmitting evidence on any Card transaction.
- Currensea is not responsible for the redemption of Miles & More Miles or other benefits or rewards offered as part of the Subscription by Miles & More (including its subsidiaries and affiliates), and Currensea gives no guarantee and has no liability to You for any failure to redeem Miles & More Miles by or receive any other benefits or rewards from Miles & More.

- Any payment of UK or European taxes, including HMRC, council tax and any equivalent foreign taxes, unless the service fee mentioned below applies
- UK or European rent, service charges, or mortgage payments
- Payment of Card fees
- ATM cash withdrawal abroad (for avoidance of doubt, UK ATM cash withdrawal is not supported by the Card)

For customers, such as sole traders, selecting the business expenses option when signing up, broader categories of spend may be available for Miles earning, however ATM and counter cash withdrawals and cash recycling schemes are always excluded.
Some categories of government and financial transaction spend may incur a small service fee where additional Merchant fee caps have been imposed. Where applicable, confirmation will be provided prior to transaction authorisation. By approving the transaction, You accept the service fee.
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to review any transaction or group of transactions. If We reasonably believe that a transaction or group of transactions has been entered into artificially or fraudulently for the primary purpose of earning Miles or other rewards, We may, without prior notice, block the earning of Miles on such transactions and take any additional actions deemed necessary, including but not limited to account suspension or termination. We reserve the right to amend this list at any given time, but We will notify Cardholders in advance of any material changes taking effect.
